UltraCrew series - Part 3
How UltraPlanner.app Helps Runners and Crew Work Better Together
An ultramarathon is easier when the runner and crew share one clear source of information. UltraPlanner.app keeps the Nutrition Plan, Emergency information, Bag Setup, and live race results link in one place, reducing confusion, repeated questions, forgotten gear, and stressful decisions at aid stations.
Before the Race
Build the Nutrition Plan Together
The Nutrition Plan gives crew a clear view of planned drinks, food, sodium, hourly totals, and aid-station timing. Instead of asking a tired runner what they need, crew can prepare the next section from the plan.
Set Up Emergency Information
Emergency information gives crew quick access to emergency contacts, medical information, allergies, medication, and important instructions. This does not turn a friend into a medical professional. It helps a caring, temporarily clueless crew member communicate clearly with race medical staff when the runner cannot explain what is happening.
Organize the Bag Setup
Bag Setup shows what item is in which bag. Crew can quickly find headlamp batteries, spare socks, warm clothing, nutrition, and the right gear for the next aid station instead of opening every bag at night.
During the Race
In View Only mode, crew can follow nutrition, bags, emergency information, and race details without changing the plan. In Crew Mode, they can add notes about food and drink taken, missed items, gear changes, foot or stomach problems, and decisions made at aid stations.
A live race results link helps crew estimate arrival times, prepare the right bag, have bottles ready, travel to the next crew point, and understand whether the runner is near a cutoff. With official progress and the race plan together, the crew experience becomes calmer and more predictable.
Make Aid Stations Easier
At a busy aid station, crew can check the Nutrition Plan, prepare food and drink for the next section, find gear through Bag Setup, review Emergency information if needed, check timing, and add a note in Crew Mode. This turns an aid station from a guessing game into an organized handoff.
A Better Experience for Everyone
The runner gets support without explaining everything repeatedly. The crew gets a clear plan without guessing what was packed, eaten, or needed next. First-time crew can feel confident, and experienced crew can spend less time searching through bags and more time paying attention to the runner.
The Important Safety Note
UltraPlanner.app can make emergency information easier to find, but it does not replace race medical staff, emergency services, or professional medical judgment. Serious symptoms require race medical staff immediately. Emergency information helps crew communicate useful information quickly, not become doctors.
The Takeaway
Nutrition Plan helps crew know what the runner intends to eat and drink. Bag Setup helps crew find gear quickly. Emergency information helps crew respond more confidently. Live race results help crew understand where the runner is and what comes next.
When everything is in one place, the runner can focus on moving forward and the crew can focus on being calm, prepared, and useful.
